At a different hotel...

Today has been pretty uneventful. We decided it would be nice to have a change of scenery for a bit. We had looked into going to Cartagena for 5-6 days but there are 2 holidays here. May 1st and 5th. So because the flights were full during the days surrounding the holidays we would of had to leave for 9 days and we thought that would be a bit much and it was even more expencive durring this time. We could go around the 8th or 9th but we are really hoping to have good news then and will be really busy the 12-14, so it wasn't going to work out for us. We are bummed but that is how things seem to have worked out. Plus we all have been sick the beginning of this week and flying with a cold is not fun. So we have settled for a nice hotel in Bogota. We will see how things go and maybe we will stay longer, but they don't have as much for the kids here so we'll see.
Last night Leidy and her friend Lucia were dancing for all of us. They were so cute :)

Also, the interpreter was addressing a name change for Lucia with her parents and Leidy and I were with them. Leidy first says "my parents aren't making me change my name" and then she says she wants to change her name to Catalina Jessica. We had the interperter tell her she needs to keep one of her names, because we don't want to change both. She said she doesn't like either of her names. So we are still trying to work on that one. She didn't like our suggestions of "J" names and we did have the interperter explain that all of us have "J" names but that didn't seem to bother her. Tonight she had John calling her Catalina. It was cute, but Jim isn't to fond of it so we will see where this one goes.

The kids just played around the B&B this morning while I packed up and Jim worked. We had lunch at the new hotel, which was very good and then I took the kids for a walk while Jim stayed with our sleeping beauty. Tomorrow we are going to the Salt Mines and Cathedral, which I have really been looking forward to so it is going to be a very very long day. Good Night!

Hi guys!
How fun to get out to another hotel for a change of scenery! Less than 2 weeks how wonderful is that! The kids look like they are having a blast with you guys at the Mexican restaurant! We have integration on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. so we will know more about juzgado then.
Have a wonderful day tomorrow!

I am really interested to hear more about the hotel you are at in Bogota. Did Lucia help you to find it? How is it different from what you were in before? Sorry Cartegena didn't work out. There seems to be a holiday every week! : ) Well, here's hoping time passes quickly and you'll be heading home soon.

Here's the plan..

I have grown a rather large mustache and changed my name to Eldorado. I dyed my hair black, bought a rather cheap looking three piece suit, and a large briefcase filled it with scrap paper (courteous of Dad's stockpiles at home). I'm coming down and marching into the nearest court and demanding they speed up your hearing date. If they stall, I'll stage a riot, and weep like a little girl. I'll get angry and throw remote contols at the judge (just so he knows how serious I am). Also, if you have any parking tickets I'll take care of them at the same time. As well, I might as well see if I can find out what happened to those New Tribes Missionaries who went missing. Since I'm at it, I'll see if we can get some 'free trade' going on too. Perhaps we can get some better coffee relations between countries too? Have you thought of using your Canadian citizenship? Just sew a few Canadian things onto your stuff, they never look at documentation (make sure its handmade, they like that a lot). All they care about really knowing, is if you're republican or democrat (plead the 5th). If none of these options work, I'll plead insanity. While I'm being locked up, just hop on a plane while their distracted. Adios... Columbia!!

Man!, this is getting complicated...

I've been thinking a lot about the whole name change thing with the kids.

You could name one of them Steve, but its written as Mark. When their in school and the teacher calls 'Mark', they will have to correct them and say, "it's Steve". People will think your cruel to do that to them, but Leidy will get over it...

Perhaps, you both should change your names as well while your down there?

Jim, I was think not so much an actual name but a sound. Something like a rattlesnake noise would be so cool.... sssssssssssssss (you could also bite or nimble on people just to be in character).

Jaime, how about a symbol or picture? People then would refer to you as the wife of Jim formerly known as Jaime. How cool would that be?

As I write a Ryder Truck is being filled with "safe and sane multicoloured 5" cone fountains". I am busy negotiating with Columbia officials over your situation and arranging a drop off point (little do they realize that I can contort my body and sleep in rather uncomfortable places in 24-footers). Bye the way, TNT Fireworks really ripped me off, when I asked for a good price on the fountains. I had a few choice words for them, but they couldn't understand me because I spoke "Canadian".

If plan A doesn't work, all of your climb into Jaime's suitcase. I'll come by the hotel, and fly you back home. "Hey Jim, keep quiet in there!"

Thanks for keeping us all posted. Why did you decide to leave the B&B? Just for a change? Will your new hotel have a pool? We will be praying everyone starts feeling completely better. Happy Holiday!

Sounds like you're having fun! We enjoyed reading "senior Boyachek's" comments tonight as much as the blog. (:
