Pool day

Well, I've tried 4 times to post a video but it doesn't seem to want to go. It has been a little different today. We are seeing that the kids are trying to push the limits in a lot of different areas. We are using time outs frequently now and they seem to work but only for a few hours. The word "no" is becoming a common word out of our mouths as they are seeing how much they can get away with. So far so good though. We have been told this is a phase most adoptive children go thru so we are prepared for it.

Stefani has had a tough day. This is the first day that she has cried and cried and cried. Again, this probably has something to do with the honeymoon stage coming to an end and the fact that she has had a cold. We have a doctor here and he thinks she is fine so we feel better about it. It is tough to hear your kid cry though.

We had McDonalds for lunch. Quite the experience here as there are only a few things on the menu and they were out of chicken nuggets. I am not sure how you can run out of 25% of your menu, but somehow they did. We made due and the kids had fun playing in the double decker play area.

Leidy and John had swimming lessons today. They had a blast. I took them while Jim babysat Stefani. This was the first time for John swimming in a pool and he didn't want to get out. Actually both kids wouldn't get out until they were forced to. I guess we got ourselves a couple of water nuts...

We're going to take it easy tomorrow and get some laundry done as well as organize our stuff. It is amazing what gets lost with 3 kids around. I can't seem to find anything in our room! Another long day and I'm hitting the hay. Love you all!

What? A mess with 3 kids? Never...welcome to parenthood! :) Hang in there, try not to get overwhealmed - you'll be a pro before you know it. I'm praying that the next few days are a time for renewal, bonding and affirmation. Love you all!

Hi Jim and Jaime, Have been following your blog and had to comment on this one. Just to let you know that I still have to say no to my kids and you know how old they are! So you can plan on many years of NO. They will love you more for it:)! We are so happy for you and are keeping you and your new family in our prayers. Please stop by Ocala on your next trip to Florida so we can meet the little ones. Love and miss you both, Julie

Sadie had a melt down about 3 or 4 days after we got her. We were told it was very important that she actually grieve. So even though it's hard to hear Stefani cry....that grieving is such a wonderful thing because it is the beginning of her attachment to you guys!!! Hang in there!!!

Yes...three kids are totally overwhelming...and it is amazing the kind of mess they can make in SUCH a short time. We are SO there with you. You guys jumped from 0 to 3 immediately. I can't imagine!!! Hang in there and just enjoy all this precious time you have. We are so enjoying reading about your journey!!
Blessings,
Buffi

Is that the "My parents are exhausted shirt?" Quite timely, no? :)

As for swimming, you got dunked into parenthood and are treading water real well! Be encouraged, they are supposed to need correction, so keep it coming - it comes from love. :)

Wow I wish we had a chance to go to the pool when we were in Colombia. Our children also have never been in the pool. I look forward to this summer and teaching them. I agree with someone who said not to worry about the melt downs. If you go back in our posts last summer when we were in Colombia, you will see we had the same issues. I'll be praying for you and we love the posts and pictures.

My kids still try and push their limits every day. It's bad when you overhear your 3 year old tell the neighborhood dog to "Stop that right now or you'll get a time out!" They say there is a lull in the middle before they become teenagers but I am still waiting on that with Hannah. I also did the math when they get older. Hannah will be 21 when Seth is 16. Hope Hannah is a responsible sister! Just thinking about it makes my head hurt!

Great pictures! Hope Stefani feels better soon. I have spent many all nighters with mine crying but it was from ear infections. There is nothing worse than feeling helpless. I Can't imagine what emotions could be flowing for her. We will continue to keep all of you in our prayers.

Hi..Im not sure how i come across your blog but we returned from Bogota almost 1 yr ago with our 2 girls. We stayed at Betty's place near Carrula and loved it there. We were there for exactly 4 weeks.

We live down in Prattville/Montgomery alabama....so almost neighbors...well 200 miles but i havent met anyone that has adopted from Colombia anywhere around here.

My heart goes out to little Stefani while she is not feeling well. She has the most beautiful smile and I'd love to think it is a ready thing she wears.

Thinking of your family, and wishing you blessings of chicken nuggets and so much more. :)

Hey guys, just remember. If your at McDonald's and are eating a cheeseburger, and accidentally walk into a time machine. I don't think it's gonna affect things one way or the other. But here's the point I'm trying to make, cheeseburger's are good aren't they?
