Last night was another great night! Jhon and Leidy both fell asleep in Jims arms. It was precious! We then put them to bed and we all slept until 7am again.
Today was another full day. We played for the morning around the B&B and then went to this mountain top in which I won't even attempt to name. We took a cable car to the top. The kids were ohhhhing and awwwwing the whole way up! We got to the top and there wa a church. It was quite a site from up there. You could see the entire city of Bogota from there. Pretty amazing scenery!
I think Leidy had been there before as she seemed to know her way around. Jim got the kids a little present when we were up there. He is such a pushover. Leidy puts on this little cute face that I don't think anyone could resist. She got a little makeup kit and has been playing with it all day. At one point she thought we left it behind, and she was freaking out but we didn't know what she was freaking out about. We had her tell someone who could understand her, and when we found out what the problem was, Jim gave it to her. The look of relief on her face was more than enought to make you cry and she hugged Jim for quite some time.
We took a taxi cab thru downtown Bogota on the way back. The kids got very quiet, and Leidys personality really changed. We got back to the B&B and Leidy went right to bed. That is very unusual for her as she doesn't take naps. I think she may have seen something that brought back some unpleasant memories when we were driving downtown. We don't know where exactly they lived when they were on the streets except for the fact that they were living under a railroad track overpass. It is so sad for us to think of the way she has lived and some of the memories that she has in her head. She is so adorable and we love her so much. She is really attaching to Jim but she still is very good with me. Our hearts break for her and sooo wish we knew what she has been thru but for now, we will just love her and smother her with hugs and kisses.
We went to a place called Frisbys for lunch. It had a really nice play area for the kids. I'll tell you what, whoever came up with a play area in a restaurant is a genious and should at least win a Noble Peace prize. Leidy really started to perk up after dinner after she was listening to another adoptive girl talk about going home to the US. It was great to get an email from Lona's daughter Hannah. We translated it for Leidy and I think it really helped her think that when we get home, she will have some friends. Thanks Hannah!
We roasted marshmallows tonight and the kids had a blast. All the kids were running around talking a mile a minute. We then came back to the room and danced and jumped on the beds for about 5 minutes. Jim likes to egg them on and get them a little extra hyper before bed. He will pay for that someday, but for now, it sure is a lot of fun!
The kids love to wash their hands. Jhon plugs the sink up and lets it fill up until he can completely submerge his arms in it. He is quite the character. He is always saying Mami or Papi. It is very surreal. We are soaking it up!
Overall, another great day. We are loving the comments and they bring tears to our eyes. It is tough being here so far away from family and friends and can't wait for the day we can come home with the kids. And Jim says that thanks BJ for the comment about the California Rocket fountain repak job. I don't know what that job pays, but I'm sure we'll be up for it to help pay for how much these guys eat!!!!
Love you all!

Hi Jim & Jaime, have been reading your blog for several days. Your trip to Colombia is special and you have given those wonderful children the best gift man could every give these children , A Mommie and Daddy. I was in Colombia a few years ago and fell in love with Colombia and its wonderful people, so I know some of your feelings. The mountain is Monserrate ( sounds like the Italin sports car ). Jim if you get a chance with your wife and at night go back to Monserrate and enjoy a beautiful meal. The city of Bogota is so beautiful at night, a reflection of its people.
Tears come in my eyes as I read and am so happy for you and these three beautiful children. Take care and enjoy Colombia and its great people. God blesses us in so many ways, one of mine was going to Colombia. "Life Changing."
God Bless you on this Wondrful Adventure.
Hi, another CHI reader. :) It's so wonderful to see the joy on all of your faces!
I was talking with my friend Juan Bondez, who is that guy who brings the coffee beans down from the mountains. His suggestion is to put the kids in some coffee bags and carry them across the border to Ecuador. I'll meet you in the Galapolos islands in my submarine (don't worry, it has a play place for the kids), and we'll make the long trip around South America and I'll have you home in two months.
Now for my spanish parenting advice... If the kids are needing a small burst of energy, yell "Kapuchie", I think it means piggyback, and I've been using it for years... I hope that's what it means...
Love you dudes
-Joe
J&J, L&JF&YE,
It sounds like you all had a very fun day, and that you're getting to know each other more and more. I can tell by the pictures alone that Jhon is a pistol! He's not looking at the camera in any of the shots- it's like he's about to jump down and run off to the next thing! So cute!
Love, D&W
I just wanna scoop Leidy up when I read what you observed with her today! And you are doing all you can for the moment, love, love, love on her to reassure her. Reading your activities and the kids responses and emotions just has me ITCHING to get to our next adoption! Can you believe you are finally here - that it is finally NOW? How does Stefani do with all the outings and activities?
Loving keeping up with your days!
Kimberly
What a wonderful trip and time for making memories. Any word on how long you will be there? As you saw on Rosa's blog, she's in PGN!!! We are hoping for a speedy process. We heard of 2 children who were in for only 3 1/2 weeks so that's what were praying for!
I can't wait to see your kiddos in person. Leidy is beautiful, love how she poses for pictures! Jim is gonna have his hands full with all the divas in the house! Such beautiful children!
Oh wow what a joy to read each day. We looked through your blog last night with the youth at the Edge. The kids are so excited for you guys and just talked about the future possibilities... (It was really cool to listen to them dream for you and your new family).
I have been reviewing this every day and told the kids it was like reading a favorite book series and being excited with each new release.
Thanks for including us in this wonderful life experience
Brother Tommy
I agree with the Nobel Peace Prize for the invention of the Play Place. What a lifesaver on a cold winter day! I am so glad that you are having a great time! LOVE the pictures!
I love Jhon's face looking over the cliff - priceless!
My favorite picture has to be the one of Jim holding the kids. I clicked on it to enlarge it (I hope everyone reading this blog knows that if you click on the picture it enlarges it to full screen, then you can really see the expressions on your kids faces) and it is so sweet to see all of their hands entangled together. What a precious family you have. That Leidy has the cutest little face. It brings tears to my eyes to think of what she's been through. I'll be specifically praying for her, that God's grace will begin to heal the hurts from her past.
